As we all know, All Tracks has adopted 2 huts, Ridges and Moitch. The Club does try and frequent these huts, when they can. On previous visits to the huts, Ridges in particular, I noticed cars coming in from other directions. So, today’s plan, ‘lets explore those other directions’.

As usual, my huts runs starts off by the side of the road. With a big turn out today, I couldn’t get everyone’s cars in one shot.

After a short brief, we headed off to Ridges, entering in from the normal way. Ridges was unoccupied and was very clean. What a great start to the day.

Leaving Ridges, we followed what I believe was the track used by other 4wders. I could see tyre marks in front of me, sadly this track started to narrow down, so, our first U turn was made, trying a different track.

This track was very easy going, just a bit of cap rock every now and again.

Exploring more to the north, and then to the east, we explored areas that we hadn’t really been to before. We even found some new tracks for us to explore. From a recent fire a little while ago, the fire department brought in some bulldozers to help create a fire break, we found this track. It was really sandy, windy, and lots of fun to drive.

Overall, we weren’t that far from High Hill, approaching it from the top, descending down the hill, we stopped there for a short time, giving those that wanted to – time to have a play.

Time was getting away from us, lunch time was approaching, and we were no where near to second hut. We made our way out, the most easiest and quickest way to Moitch. Driving on the bitumen, passing burnout alley, then onto the main track to the hut.

Once again, the hut was unoccupied and clean. This is where we stopped for some lunch.

With lunch time being over, Tony and the guest headed out the usual way, the rest of us headed off, following a completely different track, having no idea where it went or what it was like.

We did find another main road, following this in a westerly direction, this brought us back to the main road. Stopping here to air up, a couple of us made a joke, Wouldn’t it be funny if we saw Tony driving by, short time later, that’s exactly what happened. True be told, this exit was a nicer way out. Less sand, less bumps. I will have to remember this for the next time.

Thanks to everyone that came out.
