Black Point and Lake Jasper 25 January 2025

Attendees:

Penny and Spence (MUX) Richard and Naomi (Pajero) Simon, Di and Jacob (GWM)    Kelvin (Pajero) Paul (Prado) Anna and Tony (FJ)

Spence and Penny lead us out around 9 ish.  After a quick stop to fuel up at the Karridale servo (conveniently located next to the Tavern for later reference), we hit the road.

After 30 or minutes on the tarmac we turned onto the dirt and aired down.

We enjoyed some soft sand bouncing around as we made our way to Black Point, one of the most awesome views I have experienced in south-west WA.

In case you are wondering, YES it was very windy on the lookout, but well worth it.

We then went down to the ‘Stepping Stones’ for a closer look at the black rocks and water.

It was then time for us to get back into our cars and head off to Lake Jasper for lunch and a swim.  The tracks were good fun, finding the right balance between challenging and “breaking stuff”.  Some of the hills required each of us to wait until the previous car has completed the climb before starting (see below), but pleased to say we all made it without incident.

Once we got to Lake Jasper, we all partook of nourishment (impressive choice of words for me, don’t you think?).  After which members of the group dipped their feet (or more) into the clear waters of the lake, or took a walk to another of the Lake’s beaches.

Having had our fill of the lake we proceeded to go back to our vehicles where we all found tickets under our windscreen wipers.  They all said something like “Gotcha…” (thanks to our mystery ticket dispense).

The drive back to civilisation was also good fun, with our first, and only, water crossing of the day.

After airing up, and thanking Spence and Penny for a great day out we headed to the Karridale Tavern to catch up with the rest of the crew and a well earned drink.

Thanks again to Spence and Penny for leading the trip and making it such a fun day out!

BTW                 Did you hear about the 5 ants that took out a rental?  They were joined by 5 of their friends and became Ten-ants!

😊
