It was about time we had another wander around Wandoo. The last time was in the winter when track conditions were quite wet.

We started off at the BP servo The Lakes. When all were assembled, we headed off towards Inkpen Road where we aired down the tyres. The Cannon decided that it was time to do a DPF burn so we had to wait a few minutes.

As before the trip was going to be in two parts. Firstly, north of the highway and secondly south of the highway where we were going to try a few tracks I dad not been on for a very long time.

It has been quite hot recently and the bush was certainly showing it was struggling. This first section is mainly good forestry tracks with the odd fallen tree to navigate.

The tracks were a little dusty, so most drivers stopped and put snorkel socks on their cars. I didn’t really notice that much to be honest. Lol.

We entered an area of the track, which is usually 3 feet deep in water, but not this time so we were able to take the main track instead of the chicken track. The only person to take this track last time was Lee in the 80 series. This time it was a breeze and there were a couple of tyres on the track for Tony.

We crossed the highway onto Wundabinaring Road, again this area is wet in the winter months and this is where Lin gave us a bit of a show when parking her FJ in a big puddle on a funky angle. No such fun this time.

I was now starting to get a little peckish, so we headed for Mount Observation for our lunch stop. Here we all swapped stories and had a feed and loo stop before heading off on the mystery tour part of the trip.

Exiting Mount Observation, we turned right at the fence line towards Pony Road where we turned right along another good forest track. This time we did not head for the “Rock” instead we turned off towards the south in search of uncharted tracks.

After a U turn, we went onto Manna Flats Road and headed back towards Pony Road as time was now getting short. On Pony Road we tried to find the creek crossing and ended up on a motorbike track with nowhere to go.

Back on track we continued west until I found the correct crossing point. Here we were going to look for “The creek” where a number of vehicles have been stuck in the past.

Sadly, there was no water or mud to contend with, so we decided to play for a bit it the creek and criss cross it until again we ran out of track.

After our play time we continued north and turned left onto Owen Road where we aired up the tyres and had another chat about the days trip.

Thanks to the everyone who came along for the ride I am glad you all had a great time as I did.

Cheers Simon.
